Attendance

St Augustine’s enjoys consistently high attendance levels As a school we aim for 97% across an academic year.  We believe that children must attend school unless they are unwell or there are special circumstances that have been cleared with the Headteacher.  Research has shown that children have better life chances if they attend school regularly.  At St Augustine’s we reward excellent attendance and punctuality with certificates every half term, and we send attendance reports home to parents/carers.  If attendance falls below 90%, it is considered to be in the ‘persistent absence’ category.  In this instance, we would consider referring our concerns to the relevant external body.

We ask parents/carers to notify us of any medical absence by telephone before 9a.m. on the first day of absence and to ring each day to update us until the pupil returns.   If requesting absence due to special circumstances, this should be put in writing in advance to the Headteacher.

Please note that the maximum number of authorised absence is 5 days in an academic year.

No request for holiday absence will be considered.

If you or your child is going to be absent then please inform the school on: 0207-385-4333 or email admin@staugustinesrc.lbhf.sch.uk

As part of the school safeguarding role it is our responsibility to know where all the children are throughout the school day.
